Losing a Child Poem by Brandon Myers

Losing a Child

For a second
I thought it was whole
For a second
I thought I could rid
Myself of the gaping hole
You left
But in reality
There’s no replacing you
Your memory will be here
And I must get used to
Living with ghosts
The ghosts that eat
My soul
The ghosts that will not
Go away
The ghosts that must
Be heard
So I hear
And while I will not
Heal you
I will live
In your memory
And I will thrive
